The Curtain Theater

The Curtain is a scaled-down replica of the Elizabethan "Curtain Theater" in London. This outdoor theater with covered seating was designed and built by Richard Garriott. It is nestled in the hills of Mr. Garriott's West Austin estate.

Mr. Garriott has generously invited Austin Shakespeare to perform regularly at The Curtain. Austin Shakespeare has presented galas, and special events such as "Shakespeare, Politics and Women" with scenes from Shakespeare plays and commentary from notables such as UT's legendary basketball coach, Jody Conradt.

Austin Shakespeare's Young Shakespeare teen company has performed at the Curtain for two summer productions "The Comedy of Errors" 2009 and "Merry Wives of Windsor" 2010. Plans are underway for "Triolus and Cressida" for summer 2011.
