Quotes from Comedy of Errors Cast ...Mary Bryce “It's hard to sum up an experience which means so much to me, and which I enjoyed so much. In a word, being a part of A Comedy of Errors was a delight. Thanks to the generous contribution of Bill Dixson, I made new friends and performed Shakespeare under the stars all in 100+ degree weather, it was fabulous. It was a joy to work with professionals, I learned so much, and I'm
incredibly grateful to have been a part of the fun.”
Jack Corcoran “The experience of working with Young Shakespeare and acting alongside such talented performers was amazing. With the brilliant direction of Matt Radford, assisted by David Boss and the production management of Nicole Shiro, this was the best experience I could have hoped for as a first-time actor. The accountability inherent in the program brought a certain level of maturity to the group that will hopefully stay with us in our everyday life. I am proud to have played a small part in the inaugural production of Young Shakespeare.”
Dallas Emerson “Austin Young Shakespeare was an awesome experience for me. I have Struggled to come up with any negatives other than the fact that it was very, very, VERY, hot. The script was excellent, the directing superb, the music great, and the costumes were perfect. I enjoyed listening to Matt go off on tangents trying to give characters back stories and while many times it was simply for entertainment, I often found it helpful for my character development. The Curtain Theater was the perfect location for this play; on more than one occasion the wind would pick up and one could hear the waves and smell the lake giving the impression of being near the ocean. I cannot imagine The Comedy Of Errors being performed anywhere else. The only negative (other than the heat) was the fact that the show only went on for one weekend.”
Savannah Finger “During The Comedy of Errors run, I built up a lot of confidence in myself through criticism, in fact. When criticism was presented to me, it allowed me to see my character and my own performance through an outsider's understanding. The work was hard, but that made it satisfactory and it helped us get things done. I loved working with the other actors, and with the crew; the excitement and enthusiasm were enormous! It was amazing how much I learned from just being around the cast and crew--sharing advice and information. Beyond formal information that we learned from Matt and Christina (which was great to know, actually, when we were applying the ideas of farce to the show), the cast talked to one another a lot, and gave advice and a lot of fun.”
Georgia McLeland “… never in one sitting have I gained so much knowledge about the language and styles to use in his work. I also have managed to get closer to, for the most part, complete strangers…”
Dillon Marrs “I learned many things. Like, how to pronounce certain words the Shakespeare wrote… we all had so much fun… It was so amazing, I just can’t put it into words! It was a great experience, and so much fun!”
Wyatt Jackson Martin “This was my first Shakespeare play and it was an experience to remember. My director, Matt Radford, made every second of the production fun. Another special thing about the production was being able to use Richard Garriott's Curtain Theater.
