Austin Shakespeare, n collaboration with Austin Chamber Music Center, presents scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream in full costume for at University of Texas Bates Recital Hall as the finale of ACMC
Festival. Combining music, poetry and movement for the third consecutive year, we will stage highlights of this delightful story of lovers tricked by fairies, and a foolish "Bottom" transformed into a donkey. The show is punctuated by intervals of music from Beethoven, Bartok, Ravel, and Prokoviev. Artistic Director Ann Ciccolella promises “a surprise Mendelson twist!”
Professional Equity actors: Gwendolyn Kelso (Helena), Sharron Bower (Titania, Queen of the Fairies), Andre Martin (Lysander/Oberon), and Kate Glasheen (Hermia). Scenes feature Toby Minor (Puck) who recently played the comic Falstaff in Zilker Park; and Joseph Garlock (Bottom/Demetrius) who played Tybalt in last year’s festival. Children playing the fairies include: Joseph Blackwood, Rose Marie Barnes, Sparky Anderson, Selah Bell, Aiden and Liam Minor. Chamber music will be played by ACMC’s gifted Artistic Director, Michelle Schumann (piano), Sonja Larson (violin) and Nora Karakousoglou (cello) who wowed audiences last summer.
