Location: New Tapestry Dance Studio 2015 E Riverside Drive, Bldg 7

-Open to actors with some previous training.

-Teachers of college, high school and junior high actors can take this class as an active participant or auditor.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

CHOOSE: How to stand out with specific choices of material by taking several important factors into account

DIRECT: How to devise fun, specific staging that tells the story and helps the actor know what to do physically at every moment—helps greatly with nerves and gives the monologue variety and suspense

ACT: How to act with connection and truth “off the wall”—solves actors’ most common question/complaint: “how can I act without a partner?”

AUDITION: How to make smooth, professional entrances, introductions and exits.

“Your method is so clear to students and inspires such confidence in them. I am a big fan!”

—Jackie deMontmollin, former Head of Univ. of Houston’s MA Theater Educators Program

“Both students and faculty keep using your work. There really is no one else doing what you are doing in such detail.”

COLD READING WORKSHOP

12:00-4:00 pm – Tuition $150

To Audit: $50

No refunds after November 13

Location: New Tapestry Dance Studio 2015 E Riverside Drive, Bldg 7

FEARLESS COLD READING is a 10-point system that works for cold AND prepared readings. The points get you out of your head, connected to your partner/reader, and telling the story of the scene with focused, bold, adventurous choices. You'll learn what to immediately look for and notice in a script, including actions, stakes, structure, chan

ges, genre and style. We also address how to take direction fully and quickly, working with good, average, and bad readers; and, troubleshooting difficult/unexpected direction & partner choices.

“I was asked to cold read in a firing squad type situation where three agents watched me read while sitting on a couch about 3 feet away from me. I aced it, and even after previously telling me he had no more room for me on his roster the agent was suddenly trying to make some room. Honestly I would have choked on that cold read and those interviews before I took your class. I feel so much more prepared and I just want to thank you again.”
—Clem McIntosh
