TECH POSITIONS AVAILABLE - JULIUS CAESAR

Austin Shakespeare is seeking the following positions to be filled for their upcoming production of Julies Caesar — FREE Shakespeare in the Park. Set/Light designer: Patrick W. Anthony, Costume designer: Cecelia Gay, Properties designer: Stephanie Schmidt:

  • Sound board op

  • Light board op

  • In-show Crew/Ensemble

  • Carpenters (needed beginning May 5, 2025)

HOUSE MANAGER - JULIUS CAESAR & YOUNG SHAKES

Austin Shakespeare is seeking the position of House Manager for its upcoming productions of Free Shakespeare at Zilker Hillside Theatre in Zilker Park (Julius Caesar) and Young Shakespeare’s Cymbeline at The Curtain Theatre.

Responsibilities for Julius Caesar include:

  • Making sure theater is unlocked

  • Meeting and orienting volunteers (ushers, tables sales)

  • Coordinating front of house set up and take down (tables and chairs)

  • Coordinating with stage manager and concessions manager on start time and intermission time

  • Locking up theater at end of show

  • Assisting in putting up stage barrier (fence) at end of show

  • Leaving with managing director at end of show (so no one is alone)

Responsibilities for Cymbeline include:

  • Opening gates to theater entrance

  • Unlocking theater

  • Meeting and orienting volunteers

  • Coordinating front of house set up and take down (tables and chairs)

  • Taking trash to dumpster after show

  • Ensuring torches are lit at intermission and turned off after show

  • Locking theater after show

  • Leaving with stage manager after everyone has departed (so no one is alone)

  • Locking gates

This is a $15/hour position.
Performance dates: Julius Caesar May 15 – 25, 2025; Cymbeline June 20 – 29, 2025.
Performances are at 8 pm Thursdays – Sundays.
Arrival time is 6:00 pm.

CONCESSIONS MANAGER - JULIUS CAESAR & YOUNG SHAKES

Austin Shakespeare is seeking the position of Concessions Manager for its upcoming productions of Free Shakespeare in Zilker Park (Julius Caesar) and Young Shakespeare’s Cymbeline at The Curtain Theatre. Responsibilities include:

  • Selling concessions before the show and during intermission

  • Setting up concessions tent before the show and taking down after intermission

  • Shopping (online and in person) for supplies

  • Managing volunteers

  • Picking up ice (as needed) before the performance

  • Disposing of garbage after intermission

  • Tracking expenses and sales for each performance

Transportation is required and involves a trip to the storage shed in Dripping Springs before the show opens and after the show closes to return concessions furniture and items to the shed. Must be 21 years of age.

This is a $15/hour position with a 10% commission on sales.
Performance dates: Julius Caesar May 15 – 25, 2025; Cymbeline June 20 – 29, 2025.
Performances are at 8 pm Thursdays – Sundays.
Arrival time is 6:00 pm.
