Shakespeare on Screen Class for Teens

  • Tapestry Studio 2015 E Riverside Drive Austin, Texas 78741 United States (map)

Teens, are you between the ages of 13-19 and looking to create a great audition reel or submissions for your college appliactions? Well, this course is for you.

This six-week intensive will culminate with at least one completed piece; development of an additional scene or speech is optional. Learn how best to record and perform on camera, put your best self forward, and shine above the rest.

This course is taught by current Austin resident artist Cliff Miller. Cliff most recently coached our teens in Austin Shakespeare's Young Shakespeare production of Much Ado about Nothing and was last seen on our stages in Hedda at the Long Center's Rollins Theatre. His co-authored research on speech, "A Diachronic Study of Rhythm in Shakespeare Performance," was published in Voice and Speech Review and received a prestigious editor’s choice distinction. Cliff regularly teaches at THE ACTING SCHOOL with Austin Community College and is a member of the Actor's Equity Association working regularly in film and voice over both regionally and in New York. Having received his BA in Theatre from Southwestern University and his MFA in Acting from the Meadows School of the Arts at SMU, his stage work includes Hamlet (Hartford Stage); The Importance of Being Earnest (Greenbrier Valley Theatre); Our Town (New Stage Theatre); Henry IV, The Tempest (Dallas Theater Center); Henry IV, Part 1 and Part 2 (Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey); House and Garden, A Texas Romance (Austin Playhouse).
